Halong Bay, Vietnam

A boat trip around Halong Bay was the perfect way to finish off our 6 weeks in Asia. There are 1962 islands in the beautiful bay and we went on an overnight cruise to check this stunning place out. We had a jam packed itinerary.

Day one consisted of a trip to the largest cave in Halong Bay, a 2 hour kayak, a big lunch and dinner and ‘squid fishing’ off the boat. We managed to spot one squid… but the only thing we managed to catch was a plastic bag.

Day two we woke up bright and early. We went to Tip Top island which has a stunning view point – downside is you have to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the top. We had a brief swim in the sea and then it was back onto the boat for some cruising through the islands before heading back to the mainland. DSCF7382

Halong Bay is definitely a must if you are going to Vietnam! We booked our cruise with Fantasea. They were a really good option if you didn’t want to go all out on a luxury cruise.
