Stockholm was the destination of choice for one of my first long weekends away while living in LDN.
Sweden’s gorgeous capital is situated on 14 islands connected by over 50 bridges. It’s a cosmopolitan place with both classical and modern architecture. Each neighbourhood is completely different and has their own distinct character.
We stayed in an area called Sodermalm – which is quite a trendy, relaxed area where students and creatives live. There are vintage, Swedish fashion and design stores, mixed with an abundance of places to eat and drink. It wasn’t too far (10-15 min stroll) from the old town of Gamla Stan.
The old town consists of medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and archaic architecture and is very popular with tourists. Gamla Stan is home to a lot of beautiful buildings which includes the Stockholm Cathedral, Nobel Museum and one of the largest palaces in the world, The Royal Palace.
We had three full days in Stockholm and we….
… strolled the streets of Gamla Stan and Sodermalm…
… tried ‘Fika’ at Fabrique…
… had hotdogs…
… enjoyed Swedish meatballs at Pelikan a traditional swedish restaurant….
… explored the Outdoor Museum, Skansen…
… cycled around the city with a three day pass…
… went on a boat trip around the Archipelagos…
… browsed the beautiful shops of Sodermalm and Gamla Stan…
… visited Fotografiska, the Swedish Museum of Photography. We saw the work of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
So amazing! Photos definitely bring your travels to life! Love the sunflowers ☺
